insideSTL TV: Pujols Family Foundation holds All-Star Basketball Game

Albert Pujols and the Pujols Family Foundation hosted its annual All-Star Basketball Game in front of a crowd of over 1,000 people.

Pujols himself was in attendance and played alongside local celebrities including former NBA player Larry Hughes, as well as co-hosts of The Line Change, Cam Janssen and T.J. Moe.

The event raised awareness for those with down syndrome and featured many athletes from the down syndrome community, who played alongside the local celebrities, against the Missouri Baptist Spartans men’s and women’s teams.

Pujols Family Foundation’s Executive Director, Todd Perry, talked about the importance of the event for the athletes.

“This is like their World Series or their Super Bowl. When they are able to come score a bucket and hear the crowd cheer…I mean there is really nothing like this for them and this is why it is so special for us,” Perry said.

“The kids were more talkative than we were, they were demanding the basketball, and they were far better players than Cam and I without a doubt, so it was fun to be a part of and fun to watch,” Moe said.

The event is just one of approximately 125 events the Pujols Family Foundation will put on to benefit children and young adults throughout the course of the year.
