Deaf Empowerment Awareness Foundation, Inc. (DEAF, Inc.), established in 2008, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created by deaf individuals. DEAF, Inc. serves the Deaf/Hard of Hearing and DeafBlind community as well as the mainstream community to bring awareness to and promote equal and effective access to communication and cultural awareness. This purpose is accomplished through a meaningful unity of community outreach, training, education, advocacy, media, visual arts, and interpreting.
We value our role as facilitators between various communities to address issues through representation and collaboration. With the Pujols Family Foundation, we strive to increase communication and awareness so families with children that have Down syndrome can communicate at ease with one another.
The Pujols Family Foundation’s June Spotlight Sponsor is Stray Rescue of Saint Louis.
What sets Stray Rescue of St. Louis apart in the animal welfare community near and far? We seek out and take in those who no other organization will help or would simply euthanize because they are too expensive to heal. We take the abandoned, beaten, bred, fought, injured, terrified, defeated, and betrayed. We see beyond their brokenness and are here to pick up the pieces to make these special animals whole again. We see the individual and know that there’s no “one size fits all” treatment plan. The minute they enter our doors, we look in their eyes and promise them ALL the second chance they deserve for health, home, commitment, and love. Because these animals come in with a story that would give us all nightmares, it takes them longer to open up, trust and believe in humankind again. But with patience and time – always on their unique schedule – we see the light shine in their eyes again. Animals have an amazing ability to forgive which never ceases to amaze us.

The Pujols Family Foundation’s April Spotlight Sponsor is the R H Crossland Foundation. The R H Crossland Foundation was founded in 1998 by Rusty Crossland in honor of his parents Ralph Sr. & Caroline Crossland to foster a legacy of giving back to our communities and the public at large. Over the last 23 years, the foundation has donated millions of dollars to worthy causes, community outreach programs, sports programs, programs that aid in the rehabilitation of injured athletes, military, and others with spinal injuries, as well as helping the improvised in the Dominican Republic. A number of years ago Rusty decided to share his love of History with the general public by beginning to donate his extensive historical document and sports memorabilia to the Foundation and opened a FREE to the public museum in Durango Colorado. Recently, Rusty moved his museum to Carefree, AZ where it is on display. This museum has some of the most unusual and iconic documents, artifacts, and memorabilia found anywhere.
Being born just across the bridge in New Jersey from Yankee stadium, Rusty developed a love for baseball early in life which led to his significant collection of autographed baseballs, documents, and other iconic sports ephemera. Baseballs dating back to the 1850’s-’60, early 1900’s game used World Series balls, photos for the late 1800’s, to every Rookie of the Year signed ball from 1948-2008. We’d love for you to take the time to take a walk through history with us. We promise your kids and grandkids will get a true look at history as it happened.

Dennis was a part of a team that traveled to the Dominican Republic to provide humanitarian aid through the Con Gracia program.
